As a Dev-Ops Engineer at StrongMind, you will join a cross-functional team using the latest monitoring, agile practices, and deployment technologies to deliver solutions that democratize education, enabling educators to amplify their impact and students to control their learning experience.

Be a key part of the operation helping to ensure platforms and capabilities are engineered with innovation and to help provide amazing outcomes and experiences to our internal and external customers

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Configure and operate Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server, and other mainstream OS distributions

Configure and support Web and Application Server Technologies such as Apache, IIS and Nginx

Maintain a VMware environment

Collaborate with the development teams, maintain, and develop CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Microsoft DevOps (TFS), TravisCI

Maintain and develop a monitoring infrastructure utilizing open source and proprietary solutions such as TICK, Stackify, Sentry and Nagios

Utilize Configuration and Automation Management technologies employed on Open Source platforms such as Ansible

Perform debugging analysis and provide an engineered solution-based approach for resolution of issues

Use and develop API endpoints

Work with SQL and noSQL data-based technologies such as MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and Mongo, with a focus on basic troubleshooting and query abilities

Troubleshoot and make recommendations to improve the Performance and Reliability of systems

Develop scripts and applications in PowerShell, Python, bash and other industry standard languages

Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures/standards

Work as a member of the operations team to ensure environment stability and cohesion

Perform debugging analysis and provide an engineered solution-based approach for resolution of issues

Work under pressure, pay attention to detail, meet deadlines, and deal with challenging situations while maintaining composure and professionalism

Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

Specific Job Skills/Abilities/Education/Training:

Four- year college degree preferred or relevant experience.

Exposure to DevOps and Agile methodologies

Experience with mainstream open-source technologies

Advanced understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare)

Experience with database technologies (MSSQL, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL)

Intermediate experience with monitoring technologies and methodologies (TICK / Nagios)

Experience working in a hybrid environment with company infrastructure in a datacenter as well as cloud services (Azure / AWS)

Experience working with SAN and NAS technologies (iSCSI, FCP, CIFS, NFS, etc.)

Experience providing solutions and automation development using industry standard languages (Python, PowerShell, bash, etc.) and source-code management methodologies (Git, SVN, TFS, etc.)

Experience with RESTful API’s

Strong analytical thinker and problem-solver

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
