DevOps/Cloud Engineer

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the development and processing integrity of Forcura’s DevOps and cloud environments. . The DevOps/Cloud Engineer will work closely with both the business stakeholders, product owners and cross-functional IT teams and requires excellent DevOps and cloud infrastructure implementation, troubleshooting and environment management skills.

  • Building out/ Architecting AWS Environments
  • Network Configuration – this person will work hand in hand with the network team to ensure connectivity between their existing infrastructure and the new systems
  • Strong knowledge of AWS vendor management- proven ability to budget/allocate the cost of each department

  • Requirements

  • Must have experience and extensive knowledge in the following areas:
  • Extensive experience in implementing systems engineering lifecycle processes in an Agile engineering environment as well as the associated configuration management activities
  • Proficient with CI/CD principles – Jenkins, GitHub, AWS Elastic Beanstalk with extensive hands-on experience with modern source control repositories (e. g. Git) and DevOps toolsets (Jenkins Ansible etc)
  • Knowledge of cloud-native and microservice architectures and an understanding of design principles for scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Demonstrated experience with Jenkins scripts to automate the build, test, package deployment of function(s) configuration
  • Experience with container services – Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service.
  • Experience automating and scripting with at least 2 of the following: Python, Powershell, Perl, Bash.
  • Experience with planning, building and supporting of Elastic Search Clusters
  • Strong cloud formation experience – e.g., ability to set up and configure AWS and/or Azure servers and VM’s
  • Knowledge in core AWS services like EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, AWS Lambda , CLI etc. and with AWS network services
  • Operational AWS experience, including provisioning, managing, and monitoring instances
  • Experience automating systems creation, administrative tasks, notifications
  • Proficient working within public cloud services, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) building, supporting and maintaining complex environments.
  • Proficient with monitoring and recovery of key services and systems.
  • Understanding of networking – subnetting, firewalls, ACLs, security groups.
  • Understanding of databases and their infrastructure requirements – MS SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS DocumentDB, ELK Stack.
  • Understanding of Web technologies and protocols – AWS App Load Balancers, IIS, Apache, PKI/Certificates.
  • Understanding of logging and monitoring services – CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Dynatrace.
  • Proficient with Patch Management Tools
  • Knowledge of systems security processes and tools: HIPAA security requirements, encryption, disaster recovery, security controls, processes and policies in relation to support of DevOps and cloud environments a plus
  • Experience in executing load and performance testing strategies and perform advanced performance tuning
  • Creating environments for MS SQL Server Enterprise Edition and analytics platforms
  • Must be willing to work independently and/or as part of a team in an energetic, team-oriented environment managing systems of varying size and complexity with a fast turn-around time
  • Strong communications skills – must be a team player in a best-idea-wins culture
  • Interest in providing technical review and mentorship to team members
  • Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or another similar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) discipline or equivalent work experience in infrastructure engineering preferred.


    Experience

  • 3+ years of experience working as a DevOps engineer in a commercial SaaS product business
  • 3+ years of experience as cloud engineer, building cloud platform architecture solutions on public and/or private cloud platforms
  • 3+ years of hands-on infrastructure services technical experience demonstrating progression from on premise, hosting to cloud formation skills
