Development Operations Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience supporting on-premise third party solutions (monitoring, troubleshooting, scaling)
  • Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)

    We’re excited to do exactly that at Prime Air, with a delivery system designed to safely get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles, also called drones (https://www.amazon.com/b?node=8037720011). Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services we already provide to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system.

    The Business Operations, Systems and Support team within Prime Air is responsible for the tools that the organization uses to achieve this goal. Our solutions include PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), collaboration platforms and vehicle maintenance, and the data infrastructure for the Prime Air organization. We’re a diverse group that combines product managers, software developers, engineers, and learning professionals to deliver across a wide range of technical challenges.

    We are currently looking for a Development Operations Engineer to help us optimize and grow our development operations team. This leader must be able to dive deep into the details of business, operations, and engineering efforts. We need a technical, detail-oriented engineer. Our services operate at scale and support workloads critical to safety, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and automation.
  • Drive the roadmap for our services – including brand new ones – in collaboration with our product managers, other development and engineering managers, and engineers.
  • Drive root cause analyses.
  • Scale our services: Lead the planning, forecasting, and technical approaches to operating at peak scale.
  • Define and drive projects and report on their progress.
  • Report on the health of these services.
  • Collaborate with and learn from world-class leaders to meet world-class challenges, every day.

  • Export Controls License

    This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • 15+ years of experience in systems engineering and technical administration
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional
  • Python or PowerShell scripting competency
