Designer II

We’re looking for a talented designer to join us in delivering next generation user experiences for the mobile space. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the design of Microsoft Teams mobile, a new chat-based collaboration app that is changing how people work together. We are looking for an individual contributor who can inspire, define, articulate, and deliver an amazing mobile user experience. Being highly creative with the flexibility to solve a variety of design problems is a must. You need be great at zooming from big picture thinking to detailed design and love doing both. You will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of world-class designs from conception through completion by deeply collaborating with engineering, product management, and other design teams. You will need to be able to communicate your ideas using a wide variety of methods-from telling a compelling story, to providing sketches, to creating fully rendered designs.

Primary responsibilities:

• Deliver world-class interaction designs from initial concept through finished product.

• Solve complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways that blend together brand personality, visuals, motion, and sound to create delightful experiences.

• Produce design visualizations to help everyone understand what the best experience should be: storyboards, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and vision pieces.

• Work closely and constructively with product management, visual and interaction designers, editors, engineers, and user researchers to iterate and deliver flawlessly.

• Advocate for your design solutions by putting them in context of business and user goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Ability and willingness to be a subject matter expert across various technical areas related to Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams

• Talent always speaks louder than experience.

• We’re looking for someone with sharp interaction design skills and an impressive design portfolio.

• You possess a technical affinity that enables you to dive in and understand the opportunities and constraints of complex services and then transcend them with great usability.

• 4+ years’ experience in design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

• Ability to create high-res visualizations and prototypes.

• This is not a visual design role, but we do expect a high degree of visual literacy for the purpose of producing suitably impressive documentation and ideation materials.

• Minimum 4 years in a user experience role for software products or web applications.

• Experience with enterprise software, management tools, or other tools a huge plus.

• Prototyping experience is a plus.
