Anatomical Modeler / Designer I

About the role:

The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals that support their internal customers in a wide variety of anatomical modeling and 3D visualization applications. In this role, the candidate will perform all phases of anatomical modeling, from correct posing of the initial problem, 2D dataset segmentation, solid model generation, 3D visualization and/or printing and writing quality technical reports. The candidate will be exposed to a challenging and diverse range of anatomical applications in all BSC divisions. Anatomical modeling is primarily performed with Mimics/3-matic software, custom applications, or a combination of both.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Knowledge of advanced surfacing and modeling techniques in Solid Works.
  • Segmentations / anatomical reconstructions from medical imaging data sets.
  • Documentation of anatomical bench models.
  • Create detail drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Submit 3D printing requests.
  • Build initial prototypes.
  • Work with R&D Engineering and vendors to develop a robust product design.
  • Assists in development & documentation of all design requirements of developed designs.
  • Involved in all design (fit & tolerance analysis)/print reviews to lead changes to the drawings, processes and tolerances to maintain a robust product design.
  • Assist in creation & specification of test methods to measure developing design requirements.
  • Assist in selection of appropriate process technologies to allow components to be created as required.
  • Assists in prototype construction and procurement (quotes & services).

What we’re looking for in you:

  • Associates degree in mechanical drafting and design
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is a plus
  • Experience with injection molding and various silicones and Basic manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to stay focused and organized.
  • Details oriented person, proactive innovative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
