Summary:
Perform all engineering duties that will allow Hickory Springs to meet its business objectives. Work closely with internal sales, marketing, and customers in the development and application of products. Responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products. Improves upon the performance and design of existing products.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and/or assist in a variety of projects, both in product design and manufacturing processes.
Design, model, fabricate, and test product prototypes.
Conduct research and create design proposals for projects.
Establish design briefs
Create concepts, performance, and production criteria.
Identify and select materials needed for production.
Produce final drawings and specifications.
Create parts list and bills of materials.
List costs involved in production.
Fabricate samples of working models for demonstration.
Negotiate appropriate production processes.
Travel to production facilities to evaluate processes.
Improve usability of an item.
Use computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts.
Help create and maintain proper document controls and procedures.
Assist quality, production, and sales as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience.

Must be detail oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Must have good communication skills, written, and verbal.

Must be capable of assessing the structural weakness within a component and/or assembler and making recommendations for improvement.

Must be proficient at Mechanical CAD design, drafting, and 3D modeling through the use of AutoDesk inventor or similar software.

Must have knowledge and use of basic Microsoft Office software (Excel, Work, Powerpoint, and Outlook)

Must have basic foam fabrication skills.

Must be able to follow company’s safety guidelines and report any injuries, unsafe conditions, and hazardous materials.
