As a Graphic Designer for the department of Academic Outreach and Economic Development ( AOED ) the designer is responsible for the creation, design and production of original and existing visual graphics for the building and championing of the AOED brand, by utilizing passion and knowledge of branding, design and typography.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and one year experience related to Class Definition or an associate’s degree with three years experience or any combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, and/or related field, and two years related experience, or a related associate degree with four years’ experience or any combination of related education and experience totaling six years.

Knowledge

Knowledge of working with higher education groups.

Strong knowledge and application of traditional typographic principles.

Working knowledge and awareness of brand identity and brand development.

Skills

Skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Skills in animation and video programs such as Hype, Animate, After Effects, and Premier are a plus.

Proficient skills in performing press checks, proof approvals, and production of physical and digital mock-ups.

Skills in time management and flawless attention to detail.

Skills in written and verbal communication, public speaking, and rapport-building.

Skills in organization and record management and maintenance.

Skills in work procedures and office equipment related to the needs of the department.

Abilities

Ability to handle all aspects of creative execution of projects including initial concept, photo research, retouching and selection, layout, revisions, and final file preparation.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Ability to be confident in your work while having a willingness to take creative direction and maintaining a positive attitude.

Ability to follow written/oral procedures and instructions.

Ability to work closely with direct supervisor and colleagues to implement the division’s strategic marketing plan, goals, and innovations in a collaborative, team-oriented way.

Ability to foster professional, working, and cooperative relationships with Academic Outreach and Economic Development personnel and other partners effectively and courteously.

Ability to prioritize and to change priorities as needs arise.

Ability to work in an office environment with minimum supervision.

Working Conditions

Schedule

Monday – Friday, up to 28 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend.

Work is conducted on site.
