Designer

Job Summary

  • A Designer in the Multi-family Investment Sales design team will assume a position for the design and development of materials to support business development and marketing initiatives, with a focus on strategic communications. Emphasis will be on using a design template or designing customized offering memorandoms and Proprosals, sophisticated InDesign (the designer does not use PowerPoint) PDF and print collateral, there is no HTML needed. Position requires individual to work with a variety of team contributors including writers, other graphic designers, document specialists and various levels of management.
  • The individual in this position will partner with the business, and understand the business, to deliver new and unique sales support tools that not only meet the need, but test the boundaries. He/she must understand the strategy, audience, and objectives behind more complex design projects, provide appropriate solutions with minimal art direction and work with a variety of team contributors including writers, other graphic designers and various levels of management.
  • Leadership responsibilities will be assigned for specific areas depending on the person’s expertise and career development goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in and initiates client team discussion to help brainstorm key messages and provides thought leadership to the team to ensure message is easily conveyed.
  • Designs customized deliverables per client’s needs such as new graphical elements that visually capture the message to be conveyed in business development documents and presentations.
  • Designs sophisticated Indesign deliverables for PDF viewing and print.
  • Provides exceptional client service, meets own deadlines and works to proactively identify issues that impact time service commitments for the team.
  • Interacts with department management and senior leadership.
  • Upholds and strives to innovate within brand standard guidelines and established operational procedures.
  • Develops underlying implementation plans for new Design department strategies.
  • Identifies the need for, and assists in development/integration of, new standards, procedures and creative design tools and resources.
  • Takes on full ownership of assigned projects.
  • Coaches other team members by providing art direction when required and supports the development of more junior designers by assisting with trouble-shooting, technical execution and creative conception.
  • Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art (graphic design) or Design/Visual Communications (communications degree to my understanding is a 2 year basic application degree, not sure this would meet our requirements)

Years of Relevant Experience

  • 4-5 years of prior graphics experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Proven leadership in design and project management, along with demonstrated working knowledge of the business.

Skills and knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, etc, and the Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory.
  • Strong design and page layout skills are required, along with the ability to create graphic elements from scratch utilizing the best application that will support effective updates.
  • Exceptional communication skills to support professional exchanges in brainstorming sessions involving cross-functional and multi-level management teams.
  • Has an excellent understanding of print and assembly production; can recommend appropriate printing methods, and has experience in developing complete specifications, reviewing proofs, attending press checks, and managing print budgets.

  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and consistently demonstrates a high level of organizational skill and customer service.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
