Deputy Chief Financial Officer

The purpose of this position is to act as a deputy to the Chief Financial Officer, which is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the development, implementation and evaluation of CFPB’s finances, budget, internal control, governance and compliance, and travel.

Duties

In conjunction with the CFO, the Deputy performs most or all of the following duties and responsibilities:

• Establishing and monitoring annual goals and strategies for the five major program areas within the OCFO. Setting organizational tone and direction. Creating and modeling an environment that fosters and sustains diversity and inclusion within OCFO and with OCFO stakeholders.
• Managing and controlling the CFPB’s financial processes, including making the necessary changes to upgrade and improve process, policies or procedures. Discussing and providing insights on emerging requirements, realignment of priorities, organizational changes, and new activities. Exercising judgement with regard to difficult decisions, exceptions to policies, and sensitive communications.
• Providing leadership, planning, coordination, expertise, problem solving, and day-to-day management of OCFO activities, including hiring, budget, training, and travel for all staff and programs in the OCFO.
• Providing direct supervision to the Managers of at least two of the following teams: Financial Management; Budget; Internal Control; Governance and Compliance; or Travel.
• Providing policy and strategy support to the CFO’s – and in some cases directly managing — relationships with CFPB leadership and counterparts outside of the CFPB such as the GAO, OIG, and other agencies.
