Database Developer

eMetric is a San Antonio based web application service provider for K-12 education. We are currently looking for a Database Developer to work on our online assessment platforms and business intelligence tools. Primary responsibilities include:

• Design and Develop optimal database solutions that cater to the variety of application and business requirements.
• Create, maintain, and execute SQL Server jobs.
• Create, maintain, and deploy SSIS packages using BIDS.
• Maintain several databases in SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016
• Create and manage user logins and permissions on per database basis.
• Deploy and update databases on production environments using database deployment tools.
• Help transition databases to SQL server 2016 and beyond.
• Design and document logical and physical Database Models to cater variety of business requirements.
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
• Critical thinking to design solutions to accommodate current business needs with extensibility and scalability to accommodate future needs.
• Automating maintenance and monitoring tasks through various technologies.
• Working in an Agile/SCRUM model.
• Use query plans to analyze queries and improve query performance.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in design, development, and maintenance of large scale database projects.
• 3-5 years of experience in database maintenance and release operations.
• Experience in Cloud Environment, preferably AWS or Azure.
• Expertise in Database Code Promotion and Release Process.
• Expertise in evangelizing database best practices across company.
• Expert knowledge of SQL Server environments for designing and developing databases.
• Familiarity with Microsoft .NET framework and C# is preferred.
• Experience with other database platforms (Oracle, MySQL, AURORA ,etc.) is optional.
• Exposure to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services is desirable.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Familiarity with K-12 data warehousing and analytics is preferred.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies to data management such as Hadoop, MongoDB, and other NoSQL platforms.
• Familiarity with following: Powershell, Git, and SVN
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree in a related field is required
