Position Summary :
Under broad policy guidance and general supervision, this position will lead the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Enhanced Services Team in daily operations, support, consulting and technical implementations. This role provides advanced level IT database expertise and support within the Technical Support Services (TSS) Section. The role provides the Department with guidance and consultation on IS technical issues specific to database administration, including establishing technical database policies, setting priorities, and determining parameters and standards. This role requires interaction with diverse groups of technology and business professionals including infrastructure, application development, business partners, and 3rd party subject matter experts to ensure that solutions are planned, developed, deployed, and maintained in accordance with the DCF’s security, policies and business requirements.

This position interacts with IT Development staff within DCF and in other agencies to manage shared data, and interacts with the Department of Administration (DOA) Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) database team to consult on high-level technical database software, infrastructure, architecture and support. The Database Administrator Consultant will focus on database design and the ongoing support and administration of Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases for specific applications and development work for DCF program areas. The DBA should be an expert at Oracle Data OLAP data warehouse management and will also have responsibilities in the design and build of operational OLTP databases. The candidate will analyze and model data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then design, develop, amend, optimize, and certify database schema design to meet system(s) requirements. This position requires strong written and oral communication skills and sound organizational skills.

Qualifications :
Minimally qualified applicants will have :

  • Experience with Oracle database administration within a data warehouse environment.
  • Experience working with and supporting application development teams
  • Experience with PL/SQL development.
  • Experience with database administration experience in Oracle 12c and 11g, SQL 2012.

Well qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience developing database level monitoring for application related issues, tuning database queries, user security and access, and other application database functions.
  • Business Objects experience.
  • Experience using RMAN, Erwin, SqlPlus, SQL Developer, TOAD.
  • Experience with supporting diverse database platforms beyond Oracle and SQL to include but not limited to Linux OS, Windows OS, RAC, DB2 and MySQL
  • Team Lead Experience
