Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, Day Shift

Responsibilities

The Database Analyst will work as part of a small, agile team to design, develop, validate and implement new database structures, processes and interfaces.

As a key member of the team, this professional will help design stable and reliable databases, according to our company’s needs. Database Analyst will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. Will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency and will also collaborate with administrators and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements. Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop key product features and complex software solutions within existing large-scale enterprise applications and new strategic initiatives using preferred languages.
  • Creates and maintains all stable, reliable and effective databases including Oracle 10g/11g, SQL Server 2005/ 2012/ 2016 required for development, testing, education and production usage.
  • Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle.
  • Optimize and maintain legacy systems.
  • Perform database monitoring, maintenance, reorganizations, resource management, schema management, and capacity planning and performance tuning databases.
  • Implements and enforces security for all of the SQL Server/Oracle Databases.
  • Apply patches to fix bugs and/or enhance functionality as required and in conjunction with the company’s procedures for change control.
  • Clone SQL /Oracle databases as needed to support development and testing efforts.
  • Work with various internal teams such as server, storage, backup & network administration teams to coordinate and troubleshoot infrastructure related issues.
  • Implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical production databases and applications
  • Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
  • Puts standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance. Will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to.
  • Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.
  • Familiarity working with Java, JavaScript, HTML, VB, Perl.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in SQL/Oracle database design, development and administration.
  • Experience in Data Modeling (Logical and Physical Design of Databases), Normalization and building Referential Integrity Constraints.
  • Solid troubleshooting experience in the following areas- RAC, ASM, Performance tuning, Data Guard (Physical and Logical) Including Active Data Guard and DG broker, RMAN
  • Extensive knowledge of indexing, triggers, stored procedures, rules, tables and functions.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Analysis Services & Reporting Services, SQL Server Clustering and Log Shipping.
  • Must have very strong background in a disciplined software development life cycle (SDLC) process and has excellent analytical, programming and problem solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, Good team player and can work independently and help the database developers on technical issues.
  • 1+ years of experience with Windows server administration experience and/or build team experience and power shell scripting.
  • Experience with database design and writing complex SQL in SQL Server Environment.

Additional preferred requirements:

  • Exposure to Windows task automation systems (such as VisualCron).
  • Exposure to Programing languages like Java, Visual Basic and R programming.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented (OO) design patterns, distributed databases, and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment utilizing the Scrum methodology.
