Database Administrator – DB2 and Oracle

Job Summary :

Ensures health of Database
Systems through maintain, backup and recovery, and tuning. ​​​ Implements
and maintains the DB environment. Primary function is to monitor and maintain
production DB2/Oracle database environments, including runtime optimization, capacity
management and planning, security, configuration, scheduling, and execution of
maintenance utilities.

Responsibilities:

• Install/configure/manage DB2/Oracle
  Databases
• Maintain and monitor backup of databases
• Perform Database Query tuning as required
• Manage Database Objects
• Monitor performance of Database and their
  servers: CPU, IO, memory and storage
• Collect Database performance metrics for
  weekly/monthly and quarterly
  review
• Perform Application
  Installation/Configuration (New Install/Upgrade)
• Perform Systems Administration of DB OS
  (Unix)
• Perform Capacity planning for building and
  maintaining databases
• Collect OS performance metrics for
  weekly/monthly and quarterly review
• Support recovery of systems during outages
  (with on call duties)

Qualifications

Skills Required:

• 5 to 7 years of Database administration with DB2/Oracle technologies
• Understanding of Microsoft Windows Administration and Linux/Unix Administration
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience with backup and recovery including planning, implementing and periodic evaluation of backup/recovery (offline/online) strategies
• Experience with scripting in shell
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience working in a team environment
