General Description: This is a technical position responsible for creating and developing database reports, coding and supporting business intelligence solutions, assisting with data Quality Assurance and maintaining enterprise databases in a client/server environment supporting both development and operational teams. Operates under the direction of the Sr. Database Administrator.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform Database Administrator tasks such as maintaining security logins and users, backups and restores, export and import data, data conversions, database and SQL server migrations, mirroring, and SQL job scheduling. Maintains and enforces policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of databases. Perform maintenance tasks like indexing, mirroring integrity, and database integrity checks. Creates and develops SQL Server (SSRS) Reports, Crystal Reports, Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes, Integration Services (SSIS) Packages, and general Reports for Business Intelligence solutions. Creates and build data stores and queries required for Microsoft SQL Reporting Server reports and Crystal Reports. Provides support to the development team by building stored procedures, views, DDL, triggers, and ETL processing for SQL Server Databases. Has strong working knowledge of Visual Studio. Maintains and enhances custom .NET/SQL Server database applications based upon the latest Microsoft .NET technologies. Gathers and analyzes requirements such as business and software requirements documents, systems specifications, and other detailed requirements documentation. Verifies that software requirements and design are accurately translated and key business processes are properly performed. Maintains and supports all versioning of application and database source control documentation in a Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio Environment, in support of the Application Team. Able to assume a lead role in the training and mentoring of Team Foundation version control best practices. Participates in a collaborative development environment, providing assistance and technical guidance to business team members regarding the impact of database changes. Documents contents of databases, data sources, destinations, and interfaces. Database and SQL Server troubleshooting. Performs related work as required. Supports the QA planning, design and execution of system testing on simple to complex implementations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of SharePoint, Oracle, Team Foundation, Business Intelligence solutions such as SQL Reporting Services, Reporting Dashboards, Power BI, Power Pivot, Power Query in Excel, Power View, and Power Map. Create and build data stores and queries required for Oracle and Crystal Reports. Knowledge of SQL Server 2012 and Windows 2008/2012 administration, maintenance, and support. Knowledge of C#, ASP.Net, Visual Studio 2013, IIS, Team Foundation Server 2013, SharePoint under .NET Framework 4.0, HTML5, XML, Oracle 11G,SQL Server 2008/2008 R2/2012/2014. Ability to adjust to changing priorities and multiple projects based on requirements of multiple users.

Minimum Requirements:

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and four years experience in development and maintenance of relational database systems; OR graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and six years experience in development and maintenance of database systems OR graduation from High School or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and eight years experience in development and maintenance of software applications. Government experience is preferred.

A comparable amount of directly related experience MAY be substituted at the County’s discretion for the minimum educational requirements if candidates are not available that fully meet the minimum requirements of the position as posted.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDA) or equivalent technical certificate is preferred.
