Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Manager of Enterprise Architecture. This position is a member of the Enterprise Applications workgroup and is located in either the Gainesville, Tallahassee, or Pensacola office. This position will be responsible for all aspects of database management including database design, programming, monitoring, maintenance, performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching. This position supports the management and design of software applications providing services to Florida students and higher education institutions, with an emphasis on applications in the general area of library and student services.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience with large applications in a production environment preferred.

• A minimum of two years database management experience with Oracle or SQL Server.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related field preferred.

• Experience with SQL Server preferred.

• Experience with Oracle preferred.

• Experience with MySQL preferred.

• Experience with Postgresql preferred.

• Experience with Linux operating system

• Experience with Windows operating system

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics

• Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS

Essential Functions

Description of Job Duty

Performs DBA tasks such as installation, maintenance and patching of DBMS’. Support our database management systems to ensure high availability and security. Responsible for database backups and recovery processes.

Support the development and maintenance of the ERP applications and processes.?This includes support for the websites, database design, ETL development, reporting, applications and data.

Perform operational duties such as documentation, applications support, and maintenance of dev, test and prod environments. Participates in on-call/after-hours support of enterprise application functions.

Description of Job Duty

Works with staff and/or vendor technical personnel as needed to investigate and resolve application software problems. Keeps other staff informed of the status of problem resolution efforts. Provides on call support.

Performs work in support of business processes and projects. Performs time-sensitive tasks and meets established deadlines; maintains effective communications with appropriate FLVC staff; maintains effective working relationships to ensure the success of the business processes and projects.
