Data Strategist

The Data Strategist works with stakeholders to understand business objectives, define key performance indicators based on those objectives, and provide relevant traffic data, as well as analysis, insights and recommended actions. The data strategist delivers standard and ad hoc reports in a clear format for a broad business audience to help stakeholders determine what is working well and what areas need improvement. This individual will be part of an autonomous, cross-functional team that will typically include a product owner (team lead); a designer; a content lead; an information architect; a social business manager; and one or more developers.

The candidate must be skilled in summarizing and reporting complex information in a simple manner. A key requirement is the ability to discern business meaning from data, and a high comfort level with working with numbers. The role also requires technical aptitude in learning tools quickly, and proficiency in spreadsheets and creating presentations.

This role requires excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, complex organizational matrices and working with senior management.

AT IBM you will:
Collaborate with the content leadership team to identify & frame strategic topics across IBM that will serve our learning community’s needs.

Connect with thought leadership across IBM and our network to harvest stories and content, turning it into scalable educational experiences.

Drive the design and development of content and educational experience from the overarching outline of the course, through scripting mini-educational videos, to provocative exercises, activities and project challenges, and assessment (e.g. rubrics and quizzes).

Collaborate with our Producers to lead a cross-functional team including the following disciplines: writing, marketing, instructional design, platform integration, and community design.

Define how we will express the educational experience and brand visually, creatively, digitally across our digital ecosystem.

Collaborating with the Producer in video filming, editing and production. This will likely involve traveling to capture critical stories at strategic places around the globe.

Help define the processes, tools and operations by which we scale course production. Beyond just a single fantastic educational experience, you will help drive how to structure content and learning for scalability, elegance, simplicity and engagement.

Thoughtfully design educational experiences for individuals

Contribute to project management logistics including scoping, scheduling, securing resources, roadmapping, budgeting, planning, managing contractors and mentoring junior talent.

Continuously inspire and inform our team of new tools, platforms and opportunities for on-line learning and instruction. Must have the ability to work in the US without current/future need for IBM sponsorship.

3+ years experience with:
Social analytics (multiple data sources), web analytics methodologies such as experimentation and testing, competitive analysis, surveys and market research. High level of expertise with business intelligence tools, such as Tableau, Brio, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Cognos etc., with experience in writing and tuning SQL queries in an online or offline environment.

Database architecture, SEO, SEM, System architecture/analysis, technical document writing and web design.
