Data Scientist – Entry Level

The Data Scientist for Rolls-Royce Digital has the opportunity to have a real impact in a fast-paced development program within a very buoyant market, often working on multiple projects at any one time.

As an Entry Level Data Scientist at Rolls-Royce Digital, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Contributing in the development of engineering capabilities within CDS
  • Supporting the CDS business with stakeholder identification, requirements capture, development, implementation and delivery of analytical capability
  • Working in this fast-paced, busy team environment, this role requires practical solutions in defined timescales
  • Researching new analytical methods and data-visualization techniques working with other organizations to turn early technology into deliverable product and service capability
  • Investigating the vast quantities of data we have access to, discovering new insights and defining how we can combine that with expert knowledge of complex assets / operations and deliver that for our customers
  • Supporting our existing operations, providing analytical expertise to a particular program of work for customers, product development or service delivery
  • Defining new processes when required, and specify prototype software tools to developers / suppliers

Qualifications and experience

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Sciences with 2 + years of experience in numerical optimization and machined learning
  • Or Masters in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Sciences
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Experience in at least one of the following technical programming languages (R, Python, Matlab)

Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels including customers and senior managers
  • Experience working creatively to meet internal and external customer expectations, with a practical, flexible and result-oriented approach to your work
  • Strong mathematical and statistical ability along with an aptitude for problem solving Experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling
  • Experience in technologies such as Azure, Hadoop, Cassandra, Spark, MongoDB, Scala, Tableau, PowerBI, and Kafka Create optimum performance.
