Data Operations Analyst

The Appriss Data Sciences team within Appriss provides data and analytical services to the retail, public safety, and healthcare divisions. The team is responsible for managing hundreds of billions of rows of data and conducting cutting edge analysis and developing machine learning models for solutions within each division of Appriss. We work with over 80 top tier global retailers, 2300+ jails, prisons, and department of correction facilities, and more than 40 state prescription monitoring programs to collect and manage data and provide data-based analytical services. We have an open position for an experienced data operations professional within the team. The candidate will be responsible for data operations tasks primarily supporting our retail division. Key job elements:

  • Work with raw retail transaction log data which can come in a variety of formats such as XML, JSON, flat files or delimited files.
  • Write code in SQL which transforms raw data into standard formats.
  • Work with data warehouse appliances and databases such as Netezza, Greenplum, or SQL Server
  • Write code in Python for data processing and interacting with the databases
  • Monitor and improve current processes
  • Monitor the system’s business performance, identify areas for improvement and assist in the identification and tracking of issues
  • Work with large datasets

Ideal skills for this position include:

  • SQL Coding experience
  • Experience working with Netezza, Greenplum, postgres, and SQL Server
  • Experience with SAS software
  • Experience with structured programming languages such as Python
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work with a team
  • Proven ability to work on time-sensitive deliverables
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Strong time management skills
  • 3-5 years of work experience
