National Decision Support Company (NDSC) is currently seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our engineering team and participate in the design and development of our proprietary clinical decision support (CDS) systems and related platform technology. The ideal candidate is passionate about building high quality, scalable reporting database solutions to help our customers gain understanding and insight into solving real-world healthcare problems. This role will be responsible for development of ETL processes, maintenance of our data warehouse, and ensuring data quality to fulfill the company’s reporting and analytics needs. At NDSC, your work is critical to the success of our company, and each team member is involved in the evolution and progress of our platform from making architecture and design decisions to exploring and implementing new technologies.

Some things that are important to us:

  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries
  • Experience with creating Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes
  • Knowledge of data warehousing principles and dimensional data modelling
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and comfort working closely with teammates
  • A solid work ethic and ability to work with minimal guidance
  • Experience with SQL Server, SSIS, and .NET is a plus
  • Experience in the healthcare IT industry is a plus
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment and directly with product owners and end users.

As part of our growing Applied Data Strategies team, you will have experience: with open-source projects and rapid prototyping, graphically communicating complex information and processes simply, and working with complex data sets.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science (competencies in data structures, algorithms, database design, object oriented design, concurrency and design patterns)
  • 3+ years demonstrable proficiency in two or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Scala, C# (or VB.NET), Python
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud Hosting and Deployment (e.g. AWS, Azure, Heroku), Docker, Database Version Control, PaaS and SaaS
  • 2+ years’ experience with Web Application and Server Architectures (e.g. MVW, REST APIs, Apache, Nginx)
  • 2+ years’ experience with RDBMS design, administration and SQL (Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience with NoSQL (HBase, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • 3+ years’ experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, BASH, PowerShell, PHP)
  • 3+ years’ experience in Data Mining and Data Cleaning
  • 2+ years’ experience with API development (e.g. Flask, Django REST Framework)
  • A working knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g. MapReduce, Kafka, Spark, Storm, HDFS)
  • An interest in Data Science and Machine Learning
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Engineer, Architecture, or Construction industry
  • Experience working with AEC programs such as – Revit, Rhino, BIM and GIS
  • If you know client-side programming languages
