Data Center Technician

We are looking for a Data Center Technician to join our Engineering team at our Data Center located in Ashburn, VA (about 30 miles west of Washington, DC). The successful candidate will be directly involved in the support and maintenance of Virtacore Systems’ cloud and colocation customers. This position will serve as a second-line of support for enterprise level customers. Duties include but not limited to; troubleshooting various advanced issues with servers, escalating tickets to various vendors, and in-depth troubleshooting of issues encountered by customers.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 0-3 years of experience, preferably with an Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field. Appropriate vendor certifications will be considered for this requirement. This position is on-site at our Ashburn location and cannot be done remotely.

The successful candidate will also have:

Ability to work in a team dynamic to deploy and maintain new Data Center infrastructure
Ability to understand and trouble shoot network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues
Ability to perform deep dives on technical issues within the DC
Ability to perform server upgrades, integration, rebuilds and other projects
Ability to provide cross Data Center support and identify potentially larger issues, displaying effective communication when something is identified
Ability to work with internal hardware and software vendors to help resolve complex technical issues
Ability to identify and help create documentation for the global Data Center knowledge base
Ability to mentor team members to evaluate and look for better ways to resolve issues and define updates to tools and processes
Ability to track issues and analyze data looking for trends and systemic issues
Ability to help identify specifications for tools that facilitate deployment and decommissioning of server hardware at scale
Ability to assist with process improvements and inform best practices in Data Center operations
Ability to be the go-to server hardware technical resource in the DC
Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to details
Possess excellent technical writing and communication skills
Ability to work closely and professionally with customers
Ability to rotate shifts with other team members and availability for on-call shifts

Salary: $30,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
