Position Summary:

As a Data Center Associate, you will perform routine tasks in the data center environment which consist of running patch cables, racking and stacking hardware, and performing daily environmental checks on all equipment. The Data Center Associate is essential to ensuring asset receiving, asset tagging, decommissions and disposal to support asset tracking. The Data Center Associate position is responsible for escorting vendors and/or visiting Equifax personnel, as needed. This position will follow operational procedures, processes and tools to accomplish established responsibilities.

As part of the IT team, you will coordinate resources and activities across multiple technology teams to manage and track IT Assets, from acquisition to retirement in support of IT organization.

Additional responsibilities of the Data Center Associate include:

  • Physical receipt of all equipment in data center
  • Electronic receipt and associated asset tagging (i.e. duties within procurement systems and possibly other Equifax applications)
  • Responsibilities around rack elevation controls and physical inventory of assets
  • Rack/stack equipment duties for IT equipment
  • Datacenter escort of vendors for services and or other guests as required
  • Hands/Feet duties within data center (including but not limited to duties such as equipment power off/on, patch cabling within equipment racks, visual inspection of equipment on regular basis and reporting on issues/concerns)
  • Management of stock room area
  • Interface with co-location vendor employees for management of Equifax datacenter cage
  • Handling backup/restore tape handling processes
  • Accommodate needs of users by setting priorities and escalating issues as appropriate


Required Skills of the Data Center Associate:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a fast-paced technical field
    Experience with telephony and network infrastructure components
  • Physical assembly and rack mounting of server hardware
  • Ability to understand new technologies quickly
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interface with customers including strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Familiarity of Network, Server and Storage equipment


Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience servicing server hardware including part replacement and use of diagnostic tools

Education:

Associate’s Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent work experience
