Data and Analytics Specialist

As the central hub for all of our data needs, the Data and Analytics Specialist will manage the daily activities associated with the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) data requirements specifically relating to managing and maintaining data integrity, quality, accuracy, data workflows, data manipulation, statistics, and analytical modeling to improve business operations, customer relations, hospital operations, patient safety, and financial performance. The Data and Analytics Specialists will go beyond baseline numbers and standard algorithms to diagnose problems found in the data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Acquire and abstract primary and/or secondary data from existing internal and external data sources and create automated processes for data analysis and reports. Sources of data include but are not limited to GHA’s customer relationship management solution (CRM), hospital demographic data through health discharge data submitted by Georgia Discharge Data System (GDDS), hospital quality data such as the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), financial data through Healthcare Cost Report Information System (HCRIS), Department of Community Health Surveys and others.
  • Work with the business areas to understand and standardize data management processes and create, execute, and enforce regular data integrity reviews, audits and fixes.
  • Work with the business to facilitate how new business needs can be translated into solutions and processes in CRM.
  • Responsible for compiling, analyzing and assisting with implementing configurations in CRM. (e.g. fields, forms, views, workflows, import maps, report wizard and queries etc.)
  • Assist with support and training of CRM and any of its components/modules. Assist with support tickets and manage support documentation.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate a variety of member focused compliance metrics through reports, scorecards, queries or dashboards.
  • Analyze and mine large data sets and provide recommendations and insights. Provide general support for analysis of hospital data by designing, developing and maintaining reports for use by GHA and member hospitals using individual or combinations of data sources including membership data, CRM, GDDS, hospital quality or financial indicators.
  • Utilize appropriate and available data sets to summarize analytical results—via charts, graphs, tables, etc.—in ways that are easily understood and presentable for GHA, Hospitals, or other external reports.
  • Identify, examine and verify result discrepancies between expected and actual results, and provide technical or statistical support.
  • Develop business requirements for projects with a focus on documentation and process automation. Translate business or clinical logic into technical specifications to develop policies and procedures necessary for implementation, project success, and continued data accuracy.
  • Develop detailed project work plans to implement and operationalize project components according to parameters set by project leader. Create project process template/flow chart, plan activities, develop strategies and design tools for collection and analysis of data, and assure documentation of findings.

Assist with the proper dissemination of findings through:

  • Executing statistical analysis and development of statistical forecasts;
  • Using research and analytical tools to properly pull, structure, and optimize client data for technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Proactively collaborating with teams to determine priority of client data projects, and suggest new data projects;
  • Demonstrating proficiency with Excel or comparable tools to mine and structure data for client projects, including the use of pivot tables and custom formulas;
  • Identifying anomalies and outliers in data;
  • Identifying problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data;
  • Participating in high level business initiatives and assist with all levels of metric reporting;
  • Servings as data steward to validate high profile or external data to ensure accurate reporting;
  • Monitoring and performing trend analysis for the company and research report on anomalies;
  • Proactively manage report development meeting the expectations of format and delivery timeframe;
  • Developing optimal data management and reporting practices, including best practice identification.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor’s degree from national or regionally recognized accredited program with course work relating to database administration, biostatistics, statistics, health services research or a related field.

EXPERIENCE :

Must possess 3-5 years’ experience in data integrity, database administration, project management, research methods, data analysis, data report preparation, customer relationship management, and PC-based statistical applications at an advanced level.

Must possess strong understanding of all facets of BI tools with experience producing analytical reports using relational applications.

Additionally, knowledge of many advanced analytical techniques and strong proficiency with statistical software packages, such as Excel, Access, and SQL is required.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :

  • Advanced skill and experience in database management and general knowledge of relational databases are required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft-based Customer Relationship Management software
  • Intermediate to Advanced SQL querying skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Excel, SQL and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau) are required.
  • Business Objects/Business Intelligence experience desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences both inside and outside the organization are required
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and provide validation of results
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify appropriate analytical approaches depending on the business need.
  • Flexible and collaborative work style, with the ability to handle multiple projects
