Responsible for data management and analysis for a department or division. Completes extensive programming for data manipulation and generates various statistical analyses. Oversees and manages security and integrity of data. May require development and use of various software packages and systems.

This individual supports the Director of the Nurse Family Partnership of Central Alabama. This position provides specialized database support (including database management, documentation, analytics and some writing) in a community health intervention for vulnerable pregnant and parenting women in central Alabama. This position is responsible for setting up analytic databases from existing data sources, processing and cleaning the data prior to analysis, and conducting exploratory data analysis to verify integrity of the analytic database. This individual will work directly under the guidance of the director, but should be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare datasets in Excel for analyses from original databases. Manage enrollment database including maintaining syntax, storing data and preparing reports on recruitment, enrollment and attrition statistics.

2. Managing PHI and de-identified research database including merging files, doing quality control checks, preparing datasets for analyses, and completing analyses as discussed with the director and team.

3. Consulting on best practices for statistical analyses for various projects.

4. Conduct data cleaning and exploratory data analysis.

5. Prepare statistical results for reports in tables, charts, graphs, and narrative.

6. Assist with report and manuscript preparation.

7. Writing up data analysis and findings for manuscripts, preparing data for presentations, literature searches to suggest new approaches to analyses or paper ideas for the current data.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary: $47,486.40 – $74,484.80)

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Math, Psychology, Statistics or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Skills:

Master’s degree and two (2) years of relevant data analysis experience OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE preferred. Must be able to develop and manage databases and develop data sets to support specific needs within the enterprise. The successful individual must demonstrate ability in the area of data mining and analysis to facilitate strategic thinking and performance improvement through the generation of information needed for accounting decisions, grant submissions, program decisions, and program reporting. Experience with spreadsheet and database applications, such as Access, Excel, SAS or SPSS, Qualtrics, and Tableau is required. This position requires someone with strong computer, written and oral communication, analysis translation, interpersonal and organizational skills who can work independently and within a team environment. Confidentiality and adherence to the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct is expected at all times. Comfortable using data management software and the ability to learn new software program. Previous experience in program evaluation is preferable. Strong written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to generate high quality technical writing and written and oral presentations within the incumbent’s scope of work and under supervision of the director. Ability to work independently towards assigned project goals related to data management and data analysis and the ability to work in a team setting consulting with other team members to achieve project goals. Must have good organization skills. This individual must work in accordance with all UAB and SON policies and procedures and commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following IT Security Polices and participating in security training, such as HIPAA and FERPA on an ongoing basis. Previous experience in program evaluation is preferable. Strong written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to generate high quality technical writing and written and oral presentations within the incumbent’s scope of work and under supervision of the director. Ability to work independently towards assigned project goals related to data management and data analysis and the ability to work in a team setting consulting with other team members to achieve project goals.
