Cyber Security Analyst

Description

The Information Services Division (ITSD) of the Department of Health and Welfare has an opening for a Cyber Security Analyst with the Infrastructure Team in downtown Boise. ITSD creates, maintains, and supports technology solutions which serve the citizens of Idaho. We provide the platforms and technology which delivers healthcare, welfare support, essential services to the young, the elderly and vulnerable. We provide IT support to all Department of Health and Welfare Staff throughout the State of Idaho.

The Cyber Security Analyst critically exams threat information from multiple sources, disciplines, and agencies across the intelligence community; synthesizes and places intelligence information in context; draws insights about the possible implications; identifies and executes counter measures; and performs related work. The successful candidate will possess critical thinking, customer service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Experience working on a team, independently and coordinating with multiple groups is necessary for success.

Example of Duties

  • Develops, analyzes, maintains, and monitors information using enterprise information security tools.
  • Analyzes business processes, defines, and documents security requirements.
  • Participates in operational information security incident and crisis resolution management.
  • Responds to information security requests and problems, explaining agency policies and procedures.
  • Protects private and confidential information from disclosure, enforces data governance, implements, and enables information security plan, performs forensics and investigations, follows regulatory compliance, and participate in security awareness campaigns.
  • Performs information security risk assessments of proposed hardware and software purchases find any known security risks or known exploits prior to purchase.

  • Some knowledge of the basics of network security (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, honey pots, perimeter protection, etc.).
  • Some knowledge of cyber-attack stages (e.g., reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, gaining access, escalation of privileges, maintaining access, network exploitation, covering tracks, etc.).
  • Some knowledge of host and network-based security technologies and how those products fit in the network security posture.
  • Some knowledge of evolving/emerging communication technologies and risks associated with them.
  • Some knowledge of IT industry best-practices.
