International Air and Ocean Import/Export Operations Specialist

We are a mid-sized International Freight Forwarder & US Customs Broker located in Reno, NV.

We’ve been successful providing logistical services for over 36 years. We are seeking an individual who is experienced and knowledgeable in Air and Ocean Import/Export.

Candidate must be knowledgeable and experienced in routings, purchase transportation, AES, bookings, alerts, quotations, invoicing, insurance and all duties associated with international freight forwarding and CHB operations.

A proactive, business-oriented candidate who manages projects effectively by taking the initiative, following through on all details, and resolving all issues will thrive in this integral role. This position involves maintaining positive long-term relationships with customers and carriers, so excellent interpersonal skills and a thorough knowledge of international operations is essential. Must possess aptitude and ability to perform daily import/export files from start to finish.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the routing of import/export bookings * Timely preparation of rates and quotes for customers and overseas agents * ISF Filings * Communication of arrival notification – Pre-Alerts * Arrival confirmation * Arrange delivery * Prepare all necessary shipping documentation related to processing of import documentation for submission to CBP for US Customs Clearance * Prepare all necessary shipping documentation related to processing of import/export shipments: FCL/LCL(HAWB’s, MAWB’s, OBL’s, AES’s, Manifest, Shipping Instructions, Hazmat Cargo Decl., Bill of Ladings(MBL & HBL), and Certificate of Origin, etc.) * Prepare and issue invoices for services rendered to customers * Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors * Execute/Coordinate tasks on the shipments to meet all customer SOP requirements: processing pre-alerts, delivery of freight, governmental filings, etc. * Ensure a high-level of data integrity within the shipments: acknowledgement of shipment details, INCO terms, routing, dates, documents, etc. * Communicate clearly, timely, and effectively with customers, company offices, outside vendors and government agency’s * Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills * Good organizational skills * Excellent project management skills to ensure efficient and accurate routings and billings * Able to work in a fast paced environment * Must be a team player with a “roll up your sleeves” work ethic and ability to do what it takes to get the job done * Ability to work in team environment and promote a positive working relationship with all team members * Able to assist coworkers and willing to assist in other departments as needed

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required * Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or Bachelor’s Degree preferred * Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite * (i.e., Word, Excel and Outlook) * Working knowledge of Cargowise/Wisetech 1 is a plusWe provide excellent benefits and offer opportunities for growth Salary to be commensurate with experienceBook of business is a plus
