CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. If the person selected is not affiliated with the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA), he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work.

DEPARTMENT : Finance, Property Appraisal Division

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION OF WORK: 632 W. 6th Avenue, Anchorage, AK

Example of Duties:

Provide front line counter and telephone customer service to all inquiries and requests. Perform a full range of office clerical functions including, but not limited to the electronic processing of real property conveyance documents, deeds of trust, notice of completion, certificate of occupancy, and easement documents. Compose business letters in suitable language when required. Receive, assemble, and distribute real property appeals packets. Receive, review, approve or deny and electronically process all real and personal property senior citizen/disabled veteran exemption applications, making contact with the applicant when required. Electronically process all real and personal property address change requests. Produce and process real property sales inquiry letters. Receive and distribute division daily reports. Open, sort and distribute division mail. Maintain, file and scan library of real property hard card records. Assist in the training of new employees and cross-train coworkers; provide special project support to division supervisors, co-workers, and real and personal property appraisal staff. Provide administrative support to the Board of Equalization. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and two (2) years of accounting experience, one (1) year of which must have been at the Accounting Clerk II level with the Municipality of Anchorage, or the equivalent elsewhere.

Preferences:

Applicants with knowledge of Municipal Policy and Procedures, Municipal Code Title 12, and Alaska State Statute Title 29. Experience in appraisal administrative tasks to include processing of property exemption applications, real property title changes and clerical skills for Board of Equalization preferred.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
