Finance BP&A

The Finance Business Planning and Analysis (BP&A) is a team within Finance that is in charge of supporting the Segment and Partnership organizations of Barclaycard US to drive strategy and business decisions based on sound financial analyses. In order to achieve these goals, the BP&A team works closely with several areas including Marketing, Strategic Analytics, Credit, Legal, Corporate and MIS Finance, Accounting among others.

Overall purpose of role:

The Rewards Liability Optimization Lead has responsibility for optimization of BCUS Rewards Liability. In this capacity, the individual will coordinate with leaders from Marketing, Segment, Strategic Analytics, Credit and Finance to conduct analysis and product design that leads to optimal use of the bank’s balance sheet.

The Rewards Liability Optimization Lead will directly report to the BP&A Group Lead and is required to play an integral role in developing and maintaining relationships and teaming up with Marketing, Strategic Analytics, Segment, Credit and other groups within and outside Finance to understand underlying assumptions, assess profitability and make recommendations that ensure the achievement of company short, medium and long term goals.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to evaluate Barclaycard US Rewards Liability by product and synthesize the learnings into best practices for product design and strategic initiatives.
  • Understand varying profitability and behavioral profiles of Barclaycard US product and channel marketing opportunities to develop rewards strategies that best fit Barclaycard US financial objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective communication channels within the different segments and support teams to increase participation and integration of all analysis and strategy. Interact with partners as necessary
  • Proactive search of continuous improvement including process design, data management and reporting
  • Team player: Highly engaged, team player who is motivated, has the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines, has a positive approach to problem solving and leads by example

Stakeholder management and leadership:

  • This position provides a broad job scope and regular exposure and interaction with Leaders and organizations across the Bank.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, MBA a plus
  • 5+ years related credit card or financial services relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications*

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are critical
  • Strong understanding of P&L components and ability to breakdown, create and analyze credit card P&Ls
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, multi-tasking, teamwork and communication skills are critical
  • Ideal candidate will be a proactive, dedicated self starter who has the courage to ask questions and challenge the status quo
  • PowerPoint, Essbase, SAS and SQL experience a plus
  • Result oriented with the ability to bring closure to issues through working well with individuals and teams throughout the organization
