Credit Analyst

Position Summary
This person will be knowledgeable of all aspects of the Credit department and have the skill-set to back up the Credit Manager and step into the role as part of our succession planning.
Job Functions
  • Evaluates creditworthiness of both new and existing customers through financial statement analysis, third party credit reports, and projected volume
  • Ensures that customers stay within credit limits to limit our exposure, prepare requests for temporary credit extensions
  • Monitor Payment behavior of Bar-S customers, paying special attention to customers evaluated as "High Risk"
  • Provide written recommendations based on evaluation of a customer’s credit worthiness as situations arise
  • Provide written summaries on a customer’s financial position to management when requested
  • Calculate and manage bad debt by working with the Sales Controller, Sales Accountants, and Branch Administrators
  • Communicate with our outside Collection Agency and work to eliminate the need for outside collections
  • Set-up and maintenance of customer master data in JDE/SAP
  • Coordinate set-up of related party customers with accounting, ensuring proper treatment and Sales Personnel, AR Analysts and DSD Administrators in collection efforts.
  • Serve as a back-up on the order-hold release process when the AR Supervisor is unable to complete the task due to time constraints.
  • Assist with any set up of a credit management processes in SAP and work with the Credit Manager in planning for the SAP implementation in the future.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related business field is preferred or comparable work experience in lieu of educational experience
  • 2- 5 years of experience in an AR environment
  • The ability to spread financials and discern a company’s financial strengths and weaknesses by reviewing its balance sheet and income statement, and statement of cash flows as well as industry credit reports
  • Some travel may be required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • General knowledge of accounting and credit principles.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi-Lingual candidate in English and Spanish
  • Manufacturing experience a plus

Physical Requirements
The duties of this position are typically performed in an office setting. The majority of duties are performed while sitting at a desk and requires spending extended hours in front of a computer screen. Communication typically occurs through face-to-face interaction, as well as via email, telephone, and written correspondence. This job position also requires the ability to use other office equipment, such as a copies, scanner, fax machine, etc.
Requires considerable concentration and focus; it is subject to stress caused by a changing environment, tight deadlines, and workload.
