Credit Analyst

POSITION PURPOSE :
This position applies fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support corporate credit, risk management and contracts strategies; provides key analysis and insight to determine credit worthiness of new and existing customers. Continually reviews tools and process for analysis to ensure root causes of risk are identified and improvement plans are in place.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES :
Performs advanced credit analysis including calculating financial ratios, interpreting financial statements, bank & trade references and third party reports to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.

Provides frequent analysis of customer accounts and reviews incoming orders daily to ensure terms & conditions and overall risk are compliant with corporate credit policy.

Articulates the extension of credit limits and payment terms based on intelligence, syndicated data, and internal modeling and provides recommendations and solutions.

Develops and provides ownership of credit modeling analysis.

Maintains departmental policies and procedures; supports process improvements with proven ability to analyze business process and provides suggestions for improvement.

Market, train, counsel, advise, and communicate credit department policy and procedures to company personnel.

Impacts key performance goals thru minimizing bad debt reserve requirements, improving DSO, maximizing cash receipts and safeguarding the assets of the company.

Performs other accounting duties as assigned by management, including ad hoc reporting, special studies and assignments.

Required Skills

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.

Experience Required:
2+ years credit or trade collection experience preferred.

Experience with automated ERP systems and system implementation is a plus.

Required Knowledge:
Strong business acumen.

Understanding of economic and accounting principles and practices, including the analysis and reporting of financial data.

Outstanding analytical skills, including the ability to interpret risk thru analysis of financial ratios.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Skills/Abilities:
Immediate proficiency with Microsoft suite and other accounting software.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in fast-paced environment.

Ability to deal with difficult situations and negotiate to provide the best outcome for both the organization and the customer.

Works as a partner with sales, customer service and management to ensure the highest level of professionalism and customer service.

Previous experience with credit associations dealing with business to business credit decisions.
