County Records Analyst

The Records and Licensing Services Division is seeking an enthusiastic records management professional to join our Records Management Program team. We are looking for a candidate who brings records management knowledge, skills, and experience along with passion, inspiration and a strong desire for excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of records management best practices and be able to share and explain those practices to agency staff in an engaging manner. To be successful, the candidate must be willing to talk to county employees about the jobs they do and the records they create and must be able to translate those conversations into easily understood records retention schedules and records management practices and processes. We are looking for a staff member who exhibits a strong sense of team-oriented camaraderie and good-humor in the workplace and who understands and wholly embraces the value and importance of providing world-class customer service. The King County Records Management Program is embarking on an exciting journey with a new content management system. The successful candidate will have a rare opportunity to participant in integrating this cutting edge electronic records management technology into King County’s evolving records management culture.

This benefits eligible temporary (TLT) position is for one year, with the possibility to extend.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The work week is 40 hours per week and normal working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position is covered by the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.

Job Duties:
Conduct records retention interviews and inventories in county departments, identify and develop clear and concise retention schedules that reflect the responsibilities of the agency.

Analyze agency recordkeeping practices and recommend improvements.

Review disposition authorization notices to verify disposition eligibility of records against current retention schedules.

Conduct training sessions on a variety of records management topics and issues, create training materials.

Provide customer service by responding to help desk queries and requests regarding records management practices.

Promote records management awareness throughout the county be developing outreach strategies and materials.

Communicate effectively with customers verbally and in writing.

Collaborate with team members on the design and functionality of the new content management system.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
Master’s degree with concentration in archives and records management or records and information management, or

Bachelor’s degree with concentration in archives and records management or records and information management and five years of experience in records and information management, or

Ten years of experience in records and information management or related field

Demonstrated knowledge of records management best practices.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree with concentration in archives and records management or records and information management

Two to file years of records management experience in a government agency

Experience with database systems (Access, Oracle, electronic records management or information management systems, etc.)

Supplemental Information:
Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Records and Licensing Services positions.
