Position Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, public administration, or related field and ten (10) years of increasingly responsible financial, accounting, or auditing administration experience, which included five (5) years of management experience. Must have experience making recommendations that have significantly improved organizations’ financial condition and operations. Must have experience effectively presenting internal audit-related information to management, employees and outside agencies. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) required.

Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, management, public administration, or related field preferred. Experience conducting audits in local/state government and managing a large internal audit office ideal. Designation as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or other related certification desired.

Essential Job Tasks:

The County Auditor is the chief audit executive of the County responsible for planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the overall activities of the Internal Audit Department which includes independent countywide financial, fiscal compliance, program, IT, operational, and performance audits to promote efficient and effective County services, provide information so that the Board of Supervisors can make informed decisions, and ensure the County is accountable to its residents.

The Board of Supervisors will select the successful candidate based upon organizational needs.
