COUNTER CLERK III #PSTTMPCLK3

To represent the State of New Hampshire, Department of Resources and Economic Development, Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD), professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the Department and will create a sense of Welcome and Hospitality at the Hooksett Rest Area.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a visitor information counselor as needed for visitor information by answering questions about the state’s tourism regions, attractions, history, government, current events and highway routing.

Provides exceptional customer service while creatively and actively selling the State of New Hampshire’s businesses, attractions, activities, transportation, dining, hotels and natural resources to our visitors.

Ensures that the visitor center is well stocked with travel publications and brochures, as well as the attractive displays of this information, ensuring that only approved publications are in the center.

Responds to inquiries in person, email and phone, which may lead to calling businesses to assist with questions or making reservations on the visitors behalf. Acts as or provides concierge type of service to traveler.

Sells tickets for attractions, recreational licensing, and events taking place in New Hampshire by processing credit or debit cards.

Performs simple housekeeping duties, such as dusting brochure rack & counters, disposing of trash, etc.

Assist visitors by using brochures, iPad, computers or any resource at Center’s disposal.

Assists DTTD’s marketing staff to help communicate the State’s marketing campaign through these frontline locations.

Summons aid as necessary, to assist travelers in highway and personal emergencies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education many be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Two years’ experience in a position involving public contact work.


Preferred Qualifications:
Strong customer service abilities, experience handling financial transactions.

Preference given to those candidates who hold a Granite State Ambassador certification.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must enjoy working with the public, meeting new people and partnering with volunteers. Must also be a team player and possess great communication skills, as well as being able to manage during stressful times. Must become familiar with the agency initiatives and mission.

Must also be proficient in using Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel and Outlook and familiar with the use of computers and other electronic devices, websites and other social media tools.

Must be able to physically stand for long periods of time, negotiate stairs and lift and carry boxes up to 50 lbs.

Must have attained 18th birthday on or before date of application
