Corporate Communication Specialist

Establish, develop and lead innovative communication strategies engaging internal or external publics and resulting in greater understanding, trust and/or behavioral change that supports Idaho Power’s mission, goals and critical success factors. Responsible for project management functions, specifically to plan, implement, deliver and evaluate communication activities for business initiatives or proactive efforts directed to all constituents including: customers, shareowners, regulatory agencies, community leaders, media, employees and retirees. Deliver clear, consistent and informative messages through traditional and new communication vehicles to champion Idaho Power’s corporate identity and brand. Utilizing core communication skills and an understanding of communication disciplines, balances the integration of business strategy and objectives to ensure all communication material, methods and vehicles are informative and engaging.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of:
Public relations, communication and advertising trends and best practices

AP-Style news writing, English grammar and spelling

Script writing and video production

Social media platforms

Event planning

Research methodologies

Project management principles, techniques and tools

Computer/Technical: Working knowledge of presentation and audio/video equipment.

Skills in:
Communication: strong writing and verbal

Articulating complex, sensitive information

Public speaking and presentation

Planning and Organization: complete projects/tasks using a systematic project management approach

Being detail-oriented

Interpersonal relationships: professional, polite demeanor effectively gain understanding and commitment

Working in project teams – cooperative, collaborative

Computer/Technical applicationsl: proficient with Microsoft Office; able to use various social media platforms and other related software applications.

Multi-task: manage multiple tasks at one time, quickly shift attention and priorities as needed while meeting deadlines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, business communications, public relations, marketing or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
Five years communication experience

Demonstrated experience in script writing and video production.

Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Serve in an on-call rotation with other communication specialists during non-business hours.
