Job Purpose (Job Summary)
:

Under direct supervision of management or senior staff, assists in financial reporting and performs accounting and finance functions. Ensures that reporting meets regulatory, GAAP, and Invesco guidelines. Performs documentation of accounting procedures, collects information for annual audits, analyzes and explains work areas assigned, and assists in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
:

  • Assists in the preparation of financial reports in accordance with GAAP, regulatory, and Invesco policies. Ensures that reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains proper Sarbanes-Oxley documentation on areas of responsibility in scope for SOX audits and ensures compliance with documented controls.

  • Provides ongoing Business Unit Support. Must be proficient at discussing work areas assigned and answering managers’ questions regarding these areas.
  • Prepares journal entries in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Performs account analyses and variance analyses, including budget/forecast vs. actual analyses. Must be able to identify variance, determine cause of variance, and document findings.
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations. Must be able to balance accounts, identify, document, and ensure timely resolution on reconciling issues.
  • Provides assistance to clients (primarily Invesco employees) on matters related to areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares supporting schedules for annual audit reports, answers questions, and must be able to explain areas of responsibility.
  • Performs special analysis and tasks as required by Finance department managers.

Qualifications

Work Experience / Knowledge
:

  • Entry level with 0 – 2 years of accounting or financial reporting experience required. Internship experience preferred.
  • A general understanding of accounting and financial principles and the ability to apply these principles to corporate accounting is required.
  • Knowledge of SOX requirements is preferred.

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required
:

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals are required
  • The ability to demonstrate analytical skills and be proficient in reviewing financial data is required.
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical.

Formal Education
:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is strongly preferred.

License/Registration/Certification
:
(minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Candidacy for Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
  • Designation as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
