Coordinator/Specialist – Global Meeting and Trade Events

This position will be based in ATL.

Coordinator/Specialist -Worldwide Meetings and Events develops and executes key external & internal events within the Global Sales division of Delta. We are looking for a successful, passionate and enthusiastic event planner to produce events from conception through to completion. Event Specialist responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing memorable events that meet quality expectations to shape perceptions of corporate purchasers and agency influencers of $16B in annual B2B revenue.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Management of medium to large-size meetings and events that range in size from 10 to 1,500 people, including high-touch management of VIP Executive meetings as well.

  • All facets of event management to include logistics, special events, VIP support, menu planning, wayfinding, event production, branding, transportation, housing, contract negotiations, registration, audio visual, event design and budget management.

  • Maintains professional demeanor and relationship with all vendors to ensure services and materials are handled to reflect company standards and expectations.

  • Develops meeting specifications to include event resume, meeting logistics outline, catering outline, project timeline and budget outline. All specs to be highly detailed, organized and delivered by scheduled deadlines.

  • Comfortable leading pre-planning meetings with internal project teams and external hotel/DMC/vendor partners.

  • Facilitates and attends site inspection meetings (travel up to 45%).

  • Experience in turning a vision in to an incredible event; designing a blank event space and working with a variety of vendors to create a memorable experience. Also, puts forth a considerable amount of effort of finding the most cost effective design options available.

    Implement contingency plans as needed onsite. Troubleshoot and solve problems seamlessly and discreetly.

  • Complete post-event tasks to include reconciliation of expenses, evaluation of event, and report out on meeting results in addition to providing recommendations for future meeting improvements.
  • Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

    Job Qualifications – The successful candidate will have:

  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) encouraged. Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years professional meeting experience (corporate experience preferred).

  • Senior Event Management experience in large/big box hotel a plus.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage concurrent tasks efficiently.

  • Superior attention to detail; first class organizational skills.

  • High energy, positive, professional attitude, pride in work product and passion for event management.

  • Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experienced at negotiating and building partnerships with vendors.

  • Must be team oriented.

  • Demonstrates initiative and experience in project management is a must.

  • Impressive portfolio of previously managed events (VIP meetings, corporate events, large conferences, etc.).

  • Willing to submit references from previous clients upon request.

  • Hours may vary and may include days, nights, weekends etc.

  • Travel 45% domestically required
