Coordinator for Leadership, Learning and Assessment

The Coordinator for Leadership, Learning and Assessment is a twelve month, live-out position. This role has responsibility for advising Residence Life student leadership organizations. Will lead Residence Life engagement on academic support services, student retention programs and assessment.

Job Description

45% Responsibilities-Leadership

Directs and oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive residential student leadership program.

Serves as liaison with the Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) and other university offices responsible for leadership initiatives and programming.

Oversees the Jay Squad a move in support and leadership program for residential students and campus organizations.

Advises the Association of University Residence Hall (AURH) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)

Provides training and support to Assistant Complex Directors and Complex Directors that are advising residence hall governments/councils.

Supports student leader travel and ongoing development at the regional and national level.

Prepares and monitor program and administrative budgets.

Works occasional nights or weekends as needed to meet unit objectives.

35% Responsibilities-Learning

Works with university enrollment services and Undergraduate Studies on programs focused on student retention.

Expands relationships with academic advising to educate residential students about advising and enrollment.

Supports assessment activities for the unit related to academic initiatives, as part of broader departmental goals in support of student learning, persistence, and retention.

Provides coordination and administrative support for student success related to outcomes/assessment with Housing & Residence Life.

Promotes study group formation through undergraduate staff and campus partners.

Promotes faculty recognition and involvement efforts in the residence halls.

Identifies and implements opportunities for service learning activities.

Leads departmental engagement with academic early warning systems.

15% Responsibilities Assessment

Assists with long-range planning for residence life programs in conjunction with university and departmental strategic planning.

Performs regular assessment of departmental programs and report on results.

Assists in creating a culture of assessment in support of student development, learning, and engagement.

Provides data and reports as requested.

5% Additional Administrative Assignments and Department and University Service

Represents KU Housing at university programs and events

Assists the department in other designated responsibilities or special projects as assigned.

Serves on department and campus-wide committees or work groups as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years related experience.

At least one year of experience in residence life administration or related field including student activities, Greek life and Civic Engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree conferred by date of appointment, in higher education administration, education, or a related field.

Communication experience, including written, verbal, and large group presentations.

Strong commitment to social justice, a focus on the success of all students, an open mind, and a willingness to learn.
