We are assisting our client, Farran Realty Partners, LLC, with the selection process for their Controller position. Headquartered in Missoula, Montana, Farran is a private real estate investment firm focused on developing, acquiring, renovating, and managing investment-grade apartment properties. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA/CMA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of successful high-level audit, accounting and financial experience in real estate and construction in a rapid-growth environment.
  • At least 5 years of proven leadership experience in real estate development and investment, working with the capital markets, and construction project accounting oversight. Experience should also include drafting organizational documents, private placement memorandums, and subscription agreements, and working with investors and raising capital.
  • Strong cash management and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to represent the company with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Experience setting benchmarks, regularly measuring success against goals, and being accountable for development outcomes.

Performance expectations for this position include:

  • Work collaboratively with management team to proactively plan, budget, track, organize, and execute financial objectives related to the strategic plan.
  • Develop performance measures that support the firm’s strategic direction.
  • Develop new, and maintain, relationships with lending institutions and investment bankers and make recommendations on the best available financing/re-financing options for company projects.
  • Work with the management team to develop and implement new strategic plans for raising capital.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile, and construct/monitor reliable control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all debt obligations/covenants and other lender or equity requirements.
  • Sponsor the development and enhancement of organizational policies and procedures and employ systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Coordination of domestic tax reporting, regulatory compliance/reporting, cash/debt/investment management.
  • Work with other departments in the preparation and review of loan request packages, pro formas and RFP responses for new projects.
  • Oversight of preparation of monthly draw requests for construction debt advances.
  • Oversight and monthly review and reconciliation of all entity accounts.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial reporting package for equity investors.
  • Selection and oversight of, and liaison with, outside auditors regarding annual audit requirements for project entities.
  • Assist with company strategy and provide financial sensitivity analysis for options being considered by the management team
