    • Xanterra Parks & Resorts is honored to operate the country’s largest concession contract encompassing hotels, campgrounds, retail, food & beverage, and recreational activities on behalf of the National Park Service. This complex operation includes nine hotels, five campgrounds, twenty food & beverage outlets, ten retail operations, extensive recreation programs including marina, stables, bus tours, along with a complex support infrastructure.

      Purpose: The Controller will be responsible for the overall financial management of the Yellowstone operations and will be required to work closely with operational and support departments to ensure optimal financial performance is achieved. The primary responsibilities of this position are outlined in more detail below.

      Responsibilities:

      • Implement appropriate procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily revenue reporting, weekly flash reporting and monthly financial reporting to property and corporate management.
      • Implement and monitor company policies and control procedures to ensure proper safeguarding of company assets. Ensure compliance with Internal Control Minimum Standards as defined by Corporate Accounting.
      • Supervise the field accounting, revenue auditing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, retail, payroll, internal audit, night audit and cash functions. Dotted line administrative oversight of IT. Coordinate the preparation and review of the property’s annual profit plan and forecast changes.
      • Continuously monitor variances from budget and provide insight and support to aid in the achievement of budget goals.
      • Implement appropriate controls and audit procedures to ensure the accuracy of physical inventories and inventory valuations.
      • Implement and maintain appropriate procedures to ensure the accuracy of outlet tip and revenue reporting. Monitor daily tip records and report discrepancies and/or issues to the General Manager and appropriate F&B management on a monthly basis.
      • Maintain appropriate procedures to ensure accurate and timely occupancy and sales & use tax collection and reporting (official tax forms and payments are submitted by the corporate accounting team). Maintain adequate records for audit purposes.
      • Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Financial Report (AFR) required by the NPS contract terms and respond in a timely manner to all audit questions and requests that arise as a result of the audit of the AFR completed at the corporate office.
      • Complete and/or review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and appropriateness of balances.
      • Maintain control over NPS concession fee calculations, utility pass through accounting and other property-specific reporting to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
      • Continuously analyze accounting operations for efficient and effective utilization of accounting staff.
      • Review and respond to internal audit reports and facilitate the timely implementation of appropriate changes.
      • Assist in project analysis and selection as part of the annual capital budget. Review capital expenditures prior to approval and submittal to corporate and ensure projects remain within approved budget.
      • Establish appropriate goals and objectives for the accounting department.
      • Maintain good communication and relations with the corporate offices.
      • Assist on special projects and other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications:

      Education and Experience Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in hospitality accounting management.
      • CPA or CMA and National Parks accounting experience preferred.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills and Excel skills.
