POSITION SUMMARY AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Control Systems Engineer will conduct performance testing, reliability analysis and qualification of variable speed drives for outdoor oilfield use, on Electrical Submersible Pumps. Assists with developing, applying and maintaining quality requirements. May devise, construct, or configure variable speed drives. Power analysis and power quality studies will be required as well, as it relates to VSD systems interface. In addition to VSD duties, ESP downhole gauge systems will be evaluated with emphasis on reliability.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of and able to perform power studies, harmonic analysis, harmonic filters, sine wave filters, variable speed drive setup, testing and qualification required.
  • Comfortable working on 480V systems to 1000A
  • Familiar and proficient with electrical measuring tools
  • Able to perform reliability analysis and studies of electrical systems and downhole gauges
  • Familiar and proficient with electrical measuring tools such as DMM, True RMS DMM, oscilloscopes and power meters
  • Understanding of electrical safety and arc flash protection
  • Knowledge of downhole ESP gauges and their operation preferred

Interpersonal Skills

  • Interact politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
  • Excellent customer relations skills including the ability to explain and train

Required Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical preferred
  • 5+ years experience in power systems
  • ESP and Surface Pumping experience preferred, but not required
