Job Summary

Instructs, advises and mentors students from diverse backgrounds in Cyber Security, Cisco Networking Technology (CNT), Computer Information Systems (CIS) and other areas of IT. Serves as the Program Coordinator for all of our Computer Networking and Cyber Security degrees and certificates (CCL). Develops new degrees/CCLs in these areas. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.

Essential Functions

35% – Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students’ scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; uses audiovisual and multimedia materials and multiple instructional delivery systems; develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops; and advises students regarding AAS degrees and CCLs.

35% – Develops curriculum/computer courses for in-class, online, and/or hybrid classes; promotes the Network & Cyber Security Program through presentations, event displays, brochures, and tours of the laboratory; provides leadership, direction and assistance to the adjunct faculty, staff and temporary employees; and advises students regarding AAS degrees and CCLs.

20% – Collaborates with Faculty to complete division initiatives; establishes and maintains industry/university/government relationships including recruiting programmatic partnerships, as well as helping students gain hands-on experience in their areas of study through jobs/internships.

10% – Participates in college and district activities, including department/division meetings, committees, workshops, and projects; maintains office hours to assist and advise students; completes FERPA, 45th Day roster verification and assigns grades on time; engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District wide and campus committees; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

1. A master’s degree in the teaching field, or a master’s in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field, or

2. A bachelor’s degree plus three years work experience in field to be taught, or an associate’s degree or 64 semester hours and five years work experience in the field to be taught, or five years work experience in the field to be taught

3. EDU 250 – Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

Desired Qualifications

1. Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, Information Technology, or similar.

2. Cyber Security certifications: Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and/or other.

3. Cisco certifications: Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI), and/or other.

4. Other industry certifications: Microsoft, Unix/Linux, VMWare, and/or other.

5. Experience as a network administrator preferably within the area of Cyber Security and/or Cisco; Systems administration level experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems is also a plus.

6. Teaching experience with a preference in Cyber Security and/or Cisco, but also Microsoft and/or Linux networking.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
