Community Engagement Program Manager

The Community Partnerships Program Leader will be responsible for systematically building a nationwide community engagement program designed to inspire hourly job seekers to consider Amazon as their employer of choice. The Community Engagement Program Leader will establish and maintain long-term relationships with centers-of-influence, select community organizations, school districts, high schools, community colleges, universities, and the military community.

In addition, The Community Partnerships Program Leader will develop a deep understanding of Amazon’s near and long-term hourly workforce staffing needs, developing strategies and tactics, in partnership with external and internal stakeholders, to meet those needs in an innovative, efficient and systematic manner.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Build a nationwide community engagement program designed to inspire hourly job seekers to consider Amazon as their employer of choice.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with centers-of-influence, select community organizations, school districts, high schools, community colleges, universities, and the military community.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Amazon’s near and long-term hourly workforce staffing needs and develop strategies and tactics, in partnership with external and internal stakeholders, to meet those needs in an innovative, efficient and systematic manner.
  • Develop an understanding of labor markets and their impact on Amazon’s high volume staffing needs in the near and long-term.
  • Identify ways to reduce cost-to-hire, to include identifying federal, state and local tax incentives.
  • Increase goodwill and knowledge of hourly job opportunities with local influencers through experiential learning opportunities (e.g. tours and workshops).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders such as: recruiting and sourcing management teams; military recruiters; public policy teams (state and local); public relations teams; local operations and HR teams, to ensure alignment.
  • Serve as the liaison for recruiting and funnel management teams in local communities by providing them large scale opportunities to pro-actively source candidates to meet hourly workforce hiring needs.
  • Develop a tailorable playbook of key strategies and tactics requiring action by recruiting and sourcing management teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years Public Policy, Community Outreach, or Talent Acquisition experience. Experience must be in government (local, state, or federal), with a “for-profit” or “non-profit” organization, that has a national or international presence.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in either Public Policy; Public Relations; Media Relations; or Juris Doctorate.
  • Experience developing community relationships.
  • Experience speaking to large groups of stakeholders.
  • Experience writing on complex issues, under constrained timelines, while ensuring key stakeholders’ input is accounted for.
  • Experience interacting with elected officials and their staffs (local, state, federal).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and effectively communicate information to internal and external customers, with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues independently in a rapidly changing environment; taking initiative in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Robust sense of accountability and sound personal judgment with the capacity to handle confidential information and escalate issues effectively.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking with creative problem-solving ability.
