Communications Specialist

The Technology Development (TD) Organizational Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and delivering timely information to TD team members. This includes original news and content, Leadership messages, news stories that focus on relevant topics using communications to foster open dialogue throughout the department and globally. This role serves as a strategic communication partner and will employ various types of communication vehicles to help team members realize the full impact and meaning of their contribution, with context and guidance from their managers.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Functional expertise

  • Creates and executes communication plans for the functions that align to department and company strategy, culture, and values. Equally adept at both strategic and tactical aspects of communication, including measurement.
  • Brings TD groups together by providing a framework of communication approved by staff and cascaded to all TD organizations at all locations.
  • Ensures team members are at the center of communications that are relevant and accessible, testing messages, and using team members’ perspectives to improve the outcome.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor on business initiatives, whether routine, sensitive, or confidential.
  • Builds and fosters collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the company to drive connection and coordination.
  • Adjusts quickly and effectively when priorities shift.

Key Partnerships

  • Functions/Businesses: ensure we are clearly communicating and aligned.
  • TM Engagement—communicate using appropriate vehicles, such as memos, newsletter, intranet sites, and other programs; understand, prioritize, and address audience needs.
  • Culture—naturally bring the language of Micron culture to life in TD communications.
  • Develop communications and message strategy for TD programs and org announcements.
  • Executive Communications—ensure stakeholders understand key programs timing, desired outcome, and potential impact.

Qualifications

With 5+ years of experience in a corporate communications role.

  • Passion for organizational communications and the overall TM experience.
  • An ability to write and edit in a variety of styles and formats in a way that is engaging, grammatically correct, and appropriate.
  • An understanding of best practices in building internal communities.
  • Knowledge of organizational communications strategy, tools, and vehicles.
  • Effectiveness at working in a cross-functional, team-based environment with stakeholders and influencers across different levels and areas of responsibility.
  • Excellence in process development and systems thinking.
  • Experience in managing change.
  • An ability to influence team members and stakeholders to enhance contributions and improve overall results.
