Summary There is an immediate opening for a Communications Specialist with a digital technology background. The position will be located in Newark, NJ. This position will help communicate the digital innovation of this team to influence the mindset of their clients, both internal and external facing. By creating a digital roadmap, both current and new, the right person will create multiple PowerPoint presentations for the use of the CIO. The Communications Specialist will be an integral member of the team working with both the senior leadership and the developers to create technical roadmaps for the CIOs use. This position requires flexibility and the ability to gain fluency in lines of businesses that produce a wide range of technologies and products. This individual should be confident, a strong writer and able to work independently and in a high-performance team environment. The candidate should have a proven track record in a variety of communication disciplines and experience in a business-to-consumer environment. The individual must have a passion for excellence and be able to interact with all levels of personnel to gather the information necessary to create these decks. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day execution of proactive communications to present multi-layered results.
  • Create, edit and review PowerPoint presentations to relay the technology scenarios (legacy, new technology and trending in the cloud).
  • Drafting and editing a wide range of written communication materials as needed.
  • Responsible for writing a daily, weekly and/or monthly blog to share status updates with the organization.
  • Leading or supporting other projects as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, and/or Marketing or relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and developing technical communications presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to gather technical details to prepare PowerPoint decks.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, as evidenced by past experience and writing samples. Strong verbal communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks successfully.
  • Experience creating and managing a range of communications products (PowerPoint and blogging).
  • Ability to craft effective presentations for both external and internal audiences.
  • Able to see the broad picture, understanding the role of communications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
  • Thorough knowledge of varying technology stacks (legacy, current and future – cloud).
  • Energized by a fast-paced environment; able to deliver results on time.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with key collaborative team members.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a high-performance team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and web-savvy.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change and be flexible.

Job Type: Commission

Salary: $65.00 /hour
