Communications & Events Coordinator

Summary: Implements communications plans through multiple mediums. Assists with fundraising efforts, inclusive of special events, cultivation of new and on-going individual and corporate donors, public relations, and marketing and media relations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Implements the creation of the annual report, year-end appeal, mid-year appeal and other mailings as needed for both the Hope Center and OPSH.
  • Writes and produces quarterly newsletter, annual report, year-end appeal, appeals and annual tax receipts by organizing, writing articles, editing, and overseeing production. Also will create a bi-annual newsletter for OPSH.
  • Focuses one day per week on implementing the OPSH communications plan.
  • Prepares all social media communications.
  • Prepares Constant Contact (eNewsletter) files.
  • Assists with handwritten thank you notes.
  • Keeps both websites current, fresh and up to date.
  • Handles all print and other communications related to special events and fundraisers, including Night of Hope, Hoops for Hope, Education Builds Hope and Annual Appeal. This includes event website, social media, print, programs and direct mail.
  • Works with Director of Development to develop donor lists with goal to increase donations.
  • Works with Director of Development to sell event sponsorships to above list.
  • Takes a lead position in team communications for Hoops for Hope.
  • Writes non-governmental grants with Donor Services Coordinator.
  • Assists with other community events as needed, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Serve as Razors Edge input back up, as needed.
  • Serves as historian by taking or delegating taking of pictures at events and documenting online.
  • Participates in continuing education and staff training programs.
  • Adheres to all rules and procedures of Hope Center, Inc.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree, with major in communications, marketing, or other related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • Work 40 hours/week, according to assigned schedule,
  • Ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for speaking engagements and events.
  • Ability to work with persons in a manner that shows sensitivity to cultural diversity, sexual orientation, and racial/ethnic differences.

Essential Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other Qualifications: Must be able to pass drug screen.
