Communications / Development Coordinator – Task Force for Global Health

DESCRIPTION

TFGH BACKGROUND: The Task Force for Global Health is an Emory University affiliate located in Decatur, GA.
Our programs focus on eliminating debilitating infectious disease and building sustainable systems that protect and promote health. The Task Force for Global Health was recognized for its extraordinary contributions to alleviating human suffering with the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the world’s largest award of its kind. The Task Force is ranked among the largest nonprofits in the United States due to billions of dollars annually of in-kind contributions of medicines from major pharmaceutical companies.

  • This is a non-exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

JOB DESCRIPTION
: This position will support the implementation of an integrated communications program to meet fundraising, business development, employee recruitment, and other objectives. Manages social media properties including developing original content, reTweeting and sharing of relevant posts, and monitoring channels. Produces videos for TFGH’s monthly newsletter and social media channels including storyboarding, conducting interviews with subject matter experts, and editing final production. Programs TFGH newsletter in MailChimp and manages distribution list. Updates content on the website and troubleshoots technical issues with web developer. Provides other communications support as needed. Manages donor records in Raiser’s Edge. Researches foundations, prospects, and leads using online resources (Foundation Directory and WealthEngine). Acknowledges gifts to TFGH and performs other donor stewardship tasks as directed. Assists with the development of fundraising proposals. Assists with donor cultivation campaigns including direct mail and digital marketing campaigns. Performs other development duties as needed. Develops contracts for vendors and tracks all outstanding contracts. Submits vendor invoices to finance for payment. Manages subscriptions to publications, software, and other resources. Schedules meetings of TFGH communicators and business development groups, develop agendas, and takes and distributes minutes of meetings. Proofreads documents. Assists with reconciliation of department’s monthly credit card statement. Performs other related duties as required.


Communications and Development Department Background
: The Task Force communications; development department supports the strategic objectives of the organization including fundraising, program development, and new employee recruitment. The department leads an integrated communications program to drive high levels of brand awareness and engagement with donors, partners, potential employees, and other target audiences. The department is playing a critical role in the growth of The Task Force including leading a $24-million capital campaign and providing strategic support for new programmatic initiatives.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
: The communications & development coordinator supports The Task Force for Global Health’s communications and development department to meet fundraising, business development, employee recruitment, and other objectives. The incumbent will be part of a high-output, fast-paced department within the Office of the President and will help drive The Task Force’s communications and development programs to their next level of success. This is a dynamic role for a self-starter who can easily adapt to changing needs under pressure and balance competing priorities. The incumbent must have a demonstrated passion for global health and/or social justice causes. Some evening and weekend work required.


Development responsibilities include
:
  • Manage donor records in Raiser’s Edge
  • Research foundations, prospects, and leads using online resources (Foundation Directory and WealthEngine)
  • Acknowledge gifts to The Task Force and perform other donor stewardship tasks as directed
  • Assist with the development of fundraising proposals
  • Assist with donor cultivation campaigns including direct mail and digital marketing campaigns
  • Perform other development duties as directed

:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, English, or a related field, and one year of related work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
  • 1-3 years of related work experience
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with fundraising systems such as Raiser’s Edge
  • Subject matter knowledge of public health/global health
  • Resilience, flexibility, and creativity
  • High levels of attention to details
  • Passion and commitment to addressing the health needs of the world’s poor or other social justice causes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse skills, cultures, and backgrounds
  • High level of diplomacy and ability to interact with staff at all levels
