Communications Designer

Assurant’s Communications team is expanding in South Miami!

Assurant is seeking a Communications Designer II . This position is responsible for producing complex, time consuming and/or large volume customer communications projects through expertise in various software and processes. Activities include forms production, mainframe forms support, and rules- based electronic document creation, word processing, desktop publishing, proofreading, editing and preparing electronic files for production.

Primary Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement customer communications documents for Assurant’s products and programs that meet compliance and regulatory requirements, as well as corporate standards, utilizing various software, including: Word, Quark, InDesign, Visio, Documerge, Documaker Studio and Adobe Acrobat. This includes the creation of complex and detailed forms, state-filed documents, customer and client-branded letters from various sources through the implementation of rules-based electronic documents utilizing PC and Production printer technology.
  • Prepares, converts, and downloads images for use on production printers.
  • Works across departments to plan, schedule work requests and coordinate special projects.
  • Coordination with Production Mail operations for implementation and support of bar codes used in intelligent mail machine operations and production mail control and management systems.
  • Digitize logos or fonts for image presentation as requested using tools available and load to the proper libraries.
  • Prepares artwork, layouts, drafts, and other materials as needed by production print department, business channels, and vendors.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management (i.e. ordering preprints, paper and supplies).

Basic Qualifications Required – Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • 3 years of experience in a similar role or activity.

Education

  • Level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.

Preferred experience:

  • Minimum three years of experience in a similar role or activity.
  • Experience in developing and implementing documents that meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in developing customer communications documents, including client-branded letters, postcards, customer service letters, and email communications.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Documerge, InDesign, Quark, Visio, and Word software platforms
  • Thorough understanding of general project management principles.
  • Demonstrate capability of developing strong and credible relationships with internal customers, clients, and vendors.
  • Track record of planning and completing small to medium scale projects.
  • Experience in providing customer service and support to internal users with various associate levels.
  • Some auditing experience helpful.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of production document design & programming; mainframe production systems; document/mail merge processes; print production processes and procedures; as well as various marketing methods.
  • Ability to understand and interpret regulatory and compliance publications.
  • Strong knowledge of use of Internet Explorer, Outlook and other Microsoft applications, SharePoint, and other database management software tools.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task, and follow up in a fast-paced deadline oriented environment.
  • Good team player.
  • Strong training and knowledge transfer skills
  • Expertise with Documaker Studio a plus
