Communications and School Coordinator

Temple Beth-El is a 480 household Reform synagogue in Northbrook, IL with a creative clergy team and talented staff. We are looking for someone to join our friendly team in creating a secure, warm, and welcoming environment for our congregants and school parents. You will be responsible for supporting the Director of Lifelong Learning and Executive Director in a variety of administrative responsibilities including Communications and IT support.

School Administrative duties include, but not limited to:

  • Serving as interface between teachers, parents and students.
  • Managing a comprehensive database of students and families on MemberManagment 2000.
  • Coordinating enrollment, registration, and set ups for special programs and events, including administration of the Hebrew School, family events and classes, youth programs, teen programs and adult ed.
  • Assist the Director of Lifelong Learning with all administrative tasks as needed.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Maintaining the “look and feel” of all temple communications across all departments and areas.
  • Project management of communication timelines.
  • Creating and editing our monthly bulletin and develop marking materials for all TBE programs and events.
  • Administering & maintaining TBE’s website using WordPress.
  • Creating and distributing weekly e-newsletters and other important TBE emails.
  • Assisting with social media efforts.
  • Maintaining and grooming email subscription list.
  • Updating outside media with upcoming events.

High Holidays:

  • Updating tasks and schedule
  • Creating new documents to manage High Holiday tasks
  • Creating Ticket Request Packet, maintain spreadsheet with ticket requests and manage distribution of tickets
  • Creating scroll book (using Microsoft Access and Publisher) and High Holiday Flower brochures
  • Managing distribution of Free Will cards

Qualifications, Skills and Experience’s:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years’ work experience in a related field and at least one year interfacing with parents and children

  • Highly organized with superb attention to detail
  • Experience with managing projects and timelines to produce quality results on schedule.
  • Creative with an eye for design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work through tasks using individual initiative
  • Good problem solving skills
  • High emotional intelligence and maturity; willingness to listen effectively, seek, and receive feedback
  • Strong interpersonal skills a must! Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
