COBOL Developer

This position is the entry level software developer that conducts process analyses and develops cost effective information technology solutions. The core activity of this position is to develop code, test, debug, document and implement basic applications in accordance with the IT Governance process and the defined project plan.

This position typically operates under direct supervision with occasional decision making that is guided by prescribed rules, procedures and/or guidelines from which the incumbent has no authority to depart.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzes and implements requirements for basic projects. Participates in the evaluation of new platforms and technologies to satisfy requirements. Interprets software requirements and prepares system design documents for projects with minimal impact to other systems. Participates in data integrity and environmental requirements design. Develops software specifications and documentations.
• Is accountable for establishing that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
• Proactively participates in the identification of solutions for a production environment. Proposes recommendations and implements adjustments as designated by senior level personnel.
• Develops and maintains simple code utilizing basic programming techniques. Provides thorough internal software documentation.
• Operates in accordance with company security policies and guidelines, and in accordance with established quality standards and assigned schedule.
• Proactively contributes to team goals by integrating his/her own work with that of his/her colleagues and by furthering/promoting a teamwork attitude with respect to execution plans.
  Skills/Knowledge:
  

• Years of experience 1-5
• Candidate should have basic level software development life cycle (SDLC) and analytical skills.
• Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with associates at all levels within the organization.
• Candidate should be proficient in COBOL. Knowledge of CICS and C a plus.

Candidate should have a bachelor or graduate degree in Computer Science or related field and at least two years of professional experience in software development.
