We have an opportunity for a Civil Structural Engineer, with broad skills in civil and structural engineering to join our growing Civil Engineering group of 4 staff based in our Whitehaven Office.

Role

We are looking for a proactive Civil Engineer to own and deliver projects and bring fresh ideas to enhance the way we work. Due to the number of people and parties we engage and coordinate with, excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. The successful candidate will need excellent team working skills and have some experience delegating to colleagues.

The project variety is excellent and projects range in size and complexity. A significant percentage of our work in Whitehaven arises from our Infrastructure Strategic Alliance with Morgan Sindall and Sellafield Ltd and you will be working in collaborative teams with our client and the contractor developing solutions for a range of infrastructure projects. We work on many multi-disciplinary projects with our Mechanical, Electrical and Process colleagues, and we play a key role in the overall project coordination. Our ability to undertake complex coordination exercises is one of our specialisms which is why we seek a like-minded engineer.

The core skills within the group are infrastructure design across a range of water, drainage, roads and civil structural projects. We are involved in projects from master planning and feasibility through to detailed design and are required to support the site team during the construction period. You will be working within our team to develop design reports, calculations and drawings to convey the project design to the site team.

As well as the work with the Alliance, we are developing a growing workload across Cumbria and beyond.

We work closely with a number of our regional offices (Leeds, Manchester York, Newcastle & Glasgow) and you will be expected to travel to meet them and to assist with managing their involvement in our projects.

You will be committed to your own professional development ideally by working towards, or have already achieved, an appropriate chartership.
