CICS MQ Mainframe Systems Admin/Programmer

Education: 4-yr College Degree preferably Information Systems or Computer Science

Responsibilities

Lead projects in installation, testing, and implementation of CICS and MQ based products.
Participate as a team member in projects that require changes or upgrades to mainframe CICS and MQ products.
Produces documentation and procedures regarding the proper use and operation of the mainframe CICS and MQ environment.
Assists in specifying new systems software configurations, as required, for installed and proposed systems.
Provide support 7x24x365 for mission critical mainframe CICS and MQ operations and handle on-call for 75+ regions.
Act as a resource as needed during critical system outages to provide management with business impact information necessary to make decisions.
Interface with internal and external service specialists and software technicians regarding problem determination and resolution.
Assures the highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, security, and availability of the software under his/her responsibility, consistent with the resources available and the established change control policies and prescribed procedures.
Corrects reported problems with software under his/her responsibility. This includes determining the exact nature of the error so that a vendor supplied fix can be found, or a local circumvention created and applied to resolve the problem.
Utilize a problem management tool to track open incidents and follow up to resolution and closure.
Executes special projects or other related duties as required.
Conduct thorough testing and follow defined change control processes.
Effectively communicate with end-users, application programmers, co-workers, managers, and other stakeholders
Demonstrate a high level of initiative and attention to detail during daily operations

Skills Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience installing, configuring, and implementing mainframe CICS and MQ in a large IT environment
Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting mainframe CICS and MQ applications, debugging storage violations, reading core IPCS or Abend-Aid dumps, and supporting CICS and MQ in general in a large IT environment
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mainframe third party software installation and support
Minimum of 10 years of experience in COBOL, Assembler, CICS API & JCL
Mainframe CICS and MQ operations and internals
Availability to cover 7x24x365 operations and be on-call
Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure
Team player
Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills on highly complex problems; technical agility
Experience using automated unit testing and writing test code
High level of initiative and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent customer support skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Skills Preferred

Experience implementing and supporting CICS Web Services and Java in CICS.
Experience implementing and supporting CICSPlex SM, CICS Transaction Gateway, Abend-AID, Xpediter, File-AID, Strobe, and Shadow.
HP Service Manager experience
